History

STIEBEL ELTRON provides convenient, energy-efficient solutions for every aspect of renewable energy, hot water, air-conditioning and space heating. The owners of the company are Frank and Dr Ulrich Stiebel, the founder’s sons, with a 50% share each. At the heart of the STIEBEL-ELTRON-Group – with a total turnover of over 460 million euros in 2013 and 3,000 employees worldwide – are Stiebel Eltron GmbH & Co. KG and Stiebel Eltron International GmbH with their national and international sales organisations.

The Holzminden site is the headquarters of the STIEBEL-ELTRON-Gruppe and at the same time the largest manufacturing facility. This is not just the home of the administration and sales organisation that operates worldwide, but also the production site for millions of electric hot water heaters and heating appliances as well as renewable energy systems. In addition there is another high-tech factory in Eschwege (manufacturing small water heaters, water boilers, hand dryers and thermoplastic components for all the appliances produced by the group) as well as three international production sites: Poprad/Slovakia, Ayutthaya/Thailand and Tianjin/China. Photovoltaic modules complement the product portfolio.

STIEBEL ELTRON started developing appliances for using renewable energy almost 40 years ago. Today the company with 5 kilowatt to one megawatt solutions is one of the leading suppliers of heat pumps for heating, cooling and hot water, ventilation appliances with heat recovery as well as thermal solar units.

The group of companies invests specifically in the manufacturing bases in Germany. In 2007 and 2009 one of the most modern and largest manufacturing plants for heat pumps in the world was built in Holzminden – with a total investment of around 20 million euros.

Traditionally the company has concentrated on wholesale distribution and the trade. This orientation still holds today as the company philosophy. STIEBEL ELTRON gives great priority to active assistance for its partners with offers of training, courses to support sales and service. The training academy in Holzminden is available to dealers, tradesmen and specifiers to provide guidance for products. Last year alone over 20,000 participants took advantage of the broad range of courses offered. The entire portfolio of products was presented as part of permanent exhibitions, among other things, in six German sales centres – usually with the systems in operation.

STIEBEL ELTRON is well equipped to face the future with a high-level research, development and investment programme. The Group’s investments in its manufacturing bases in Germany again ran to the tens of millions in 2011. The outlay was for the development of new products and the construction of new production lines.

STIEBEL ELTRON has an international presence. To ensure that all customers around the world can reach us easily and quickly, our company has positioned itself in many countries - both in the form of subsidiaries and manufacturing sites. Naturally, all our facilities pursue one aim: The high quality standards set by the parent company.

STIEBEL ELTRON products are available in all five continents. 15 subsidiaries and numerous representations and support partners around the world look after the company's interests outside Germany. These cover the most diverse markets with their own sales organisations and service facilities. This enables STIEBEL ELTRON to maintain a leading market position in important export markets.

The head office and largest production facility of the STIEBEL ELTRON group is in Holzminden by the Weser in northern Germany. There are further factories in Eschwege, as well as three international production facilities in Poprad (Slovakia), Bangkok (Thailand) and Tianjin (China).

The factory in Tianjin, China, has been producing electrical heaters, such as convector heaters and storage heaters, for the Asian market, since early 2005. The port city of Tianjin is in northern China, approx. 120 km from Beijing.
