Working location will be in Wuxi after initial onboarding and training in Shanghai

  • Conduct research and pre-development on vehicle fuel cell system level (incl. fuel system, air system, water management system, thermal management system, stack, etc.)
  • Optimize fuel cell system with electrical system and control strategy
  • Coordinate and conduct the implementation of fuel cell system concepts and control strategies
  • Work closely with the Corporate Research headquarter in Renningen, Germany and the research center in Japan on project activities and competence development
  • Work closely with business units in China to supply cutting edge technology solutions and to transform them to products
  • Execute technology scouting that covers both academia and industry in China/Asia for preparing strategic decisions
  • Main responsibility of the team includes
  1. Pursue technology excellence by contributing brilliant ideas to new product concepts including patent filing
  2. Prove innovation concept by pre-development including design, simulation, prototyping, test and validation
  3. Support project activities to transfer deliverables to business units successfully
  4. Manage suppliers and lab facilities for sample construction


  • PhD degree or Master degree in discipline of automotive engineering, thermodynamics, electrical engineering, fuel cell or computational optimization; knowledge on automotive drivetrain system or HVAC is appreciated
  • Experiences in 1-D system simulation (e.g. Matlab, Simulink, Cruise, Adams, Advisor, GT-Suite, AMESim) and operating strategy development is preferred
  • Knowledge on fuel cell stack and fuel cell auxiliaries (BoP such as filter, compressor, humidifier, diverter valve, recirculation pump, radiator, coolant pump, as well as hydrogen storage) is preferred
  • Knowledge on electrical system of new energy vehicle is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English (oral and written)
  • Basic knowledge on electric powertrain system and components is a plus
  • International education and experiences is a plus
  • Efficient, goal-oriented, structured working style, experienced in project work
  • Passionate for innovation; filed patents on qualified content during PhD or prior work is a benefit
  • Strong team player; open to work in an international environment
