Objective of job

As buyer for Electric & Electronics with a focus on electric drive topics, you will be the central contact person regarding all commercial and sourcing process related issues within the MP China Hub and the Chinese supply base.

Your responsibility as interface between Germany Procurement organization and Chinese Joint Venture is to ensure the balance between global business case optimization and localization interests.

You will carry out short visits to potential suppliers, prepare, join and lead negotiations and develop and align sourcing strategies together with the headquarter organization.

A close collaboration and exchange with the procurement organization in Germany, cost planning function, quality engineers, development department and the Joint Venture is part of your daily work.

Your field of work is dedicated to new energy vehicles and high voltage components which raises pioneering tasks regarding the speed of development, vivid changes in regulations and complex technologies. In this environment your challenge is to create transparency in the Asian supplier base, find and develop new supplier and develop long-lasting sourcing strategies for Daimler´s NEV components together with MP headquarters. Together with your colleagues you are significantly shaping the future of the commodity electric drive at Daimler AG including batteries, cells, drivetrains, HV components etc..

Ideally you already worked in a New Energy Vehicle related position and gained knowledge about the existing supply base and the current technical - NEV related - development. Having insights in the Chinese regulatory regarding NEV policies is a plus.


Qualification required

Bachelor or above degree in Automotive, Engineering or Management and Administration area.

Minimal 5 years working experiences in procurement area, automotive components of electrics/electronics experiences is preferred.

Knowledge (commercial, technical, regulatory) in the NEV area is a plus.

Strong communication and negotiation capabilities, cost sensitive and highly motivated

Very good English (speaking and writing) language skill, able to read/write/speak German is preferred.

Good computer skills (Microsoft office, Powerpoint etc.)

Highly motivated and proactive working attitude, good industrial management thinking is preferred.

 

Task description

Screening, evaluating and developing the commodity specific supply base for eDrive and high voltage suppliers in Notheast Asia. Analysing and Evaluating this information for the global Procurment Mercedes-Benz and Vans (MP) organization in a proactive way. Build a deep base of knowledge an consult MP headquarters on potential suppliers and specific supply base situations.

Follow up on identified potential suppliers, coordinate and initiate development programs, organise an plan follow up actions and make them capable for global RFQs from a procurement point of few.

Working globally together with purchasing organisations of Joint Ventures (BBAC, BDNT), Engineering Department and Cost Planning Department for sourcing, cost optimization and change management processes with leading performance in the peer group.

Supplier Management: Communication with suppliers, handling issues with high complexity, discuss technical driven issues with engineers in China and Germany from purchasing point of view. Being aware of representing function.

Detailed documentation of sourcing and negotiation results in standard-databases, presentations and analyse tools (e.g. MS Office). Develop Strategies for Supplier Base Optimization within the eDrive Commodity

Prepare and present decision and sourcing documents to management meetings. Create status reports, prepare information and presentations for high management decisions.

Major working focus in strong support and project management for New Electric Vehicle sourcing projects in China and development of the commodity eDrive and long-lasting sourcing strategies.
