Objectives of the Position

•Technical manager for localization of Daimler Powertrain and eDrive components in China

•Development of local produced Powertrain and eDrive components in cooperation with local suppliers

•Responsible for technical support (e.g. issue analysis, countermeasure validation) of life cycle management of local and global produced Daimler Powertrain and eDrive components (plant and field support)

•Development of Powertrain components in cooperation with HQ and global suppliers

•Component and overall powertrain validation planning, executing, analyzing, documenting and reporting

 

Task description

•Validate responsible components by evaluating and verifying component tests (e.g. performed by supplier), overall engine durability and functional tests and in relevant cases vehicle test drives 

•Managing testing-, mechanics- and work shop tasks together with local team members. Fulfill mechanics and testing related project targets in time.

•Support field and production issues in China and worldwide by failure analysis and countermeasure implementation in your field of component responsibility.

•Work together with cross-functional departments like product planning, purchase, quality and logistics, set up project milestones as well as coordinate activities to pursue tight time schedules

•Assist pilot runs, try outs and series productions of Mercedes-Benz cars at the production plant with technical support and profound knowledge

•Built up overall engine development knowledge especially within own field of responsible; Drive innovations and continuous improvements

•Support the German development division regarding local requirements for engine documentation, change management and testing in order to fulfill the latest CN-/DAI- standards.

•Ensure the on-time introduction of local and imported parts for our current and future Mercedes-Benz projects in China

•Support team members and contribute to a spirit of close collaboration within the team and partners

 

Qualification required

•Education

-University Master degree in mechanical engineering (mechanical/powertrain/vehicle engineering background)

-Educational assignments abroad

•Experience

-Experienced in Powertrain development or in automotive industry

-Master Graduate from technical College/University

•Specific Knowledge

-Profound knowledge of powertrain technologies; development experience preferred

-Knowledge of production relocation/localization

-Self-responsible working attitude and initiative

-Team player

-Intercultural competence and communication skills

-Strong planning and organizational skills

-Professional English skills for technical negotiations
